Dartmouth Yacht Club welcomes members, visiting boat owners, guests, families and dogs on leads to our Clubhouse, on the South Embankment, with its panoramic views of the busy working harbour. Facilities include hot showers, free wireless internet connection, on-line weather forecasts, hot and cold food most lunchtimes and evenings throughout the season and a warm and friendly greeting is always assured at our bar. DYC members are all lovers of the water, whether they own a yacht, motor boat, RIB, canoe or no boat, and can participate in a full programme of events including Cruises in Company, Junior Sailing Instruction, Small Boat outings, RYA Training Courses and Canoe Paddles as well as lively Social Occasions.
Dartmouth Yacht Club was founded in 1950 as the Dartmouth Sailing Club, Our present building had been constructed at the turn of the century for the Channel Coaling Company, whose brass plaque is displayed over the bar. On their demise it was leased to the Club and the new Clubhouse was formally opened in December 1954. In 1965 with the help of member's loans the freehold was purchased outright and in 1974 the Club changed its name to the Dartmouth Yacht Club.
